Understanding Your Impact
When looking at issues related to sustainability, it comes down a consumption vs generation. If you consume more of a particular resource than you generate, they this is an area where you are not living sustainably. Below are some resources to help you understand the impact you are having on the world in which you live.
This calculator asks you a few questions about how you live. It outputs the number of Earth's that would be needed to sustain your lifestyle if everyone on the planet lived like you. A score bigger than 1 means you are using more resources than the world can regenerate, less than 1 means the world is generating more resources than you use.

The footprint network has a range of resources to help you look into ideas regarding your impact on the planet as well as initiatives such as Earth Overshoot Day. This day measures the day of the year in which the natural resources that can be generated by the planet in a year have been depleted. Any resources used after that day are ones that cannot regenerate in that year.
