Zombie Alarm and Distraction System
When you have a base set up, and your defences in place, you may also want to know when those defences have been breached. Entry points to your base provide a necessary way to get in and out, but are a weak point that the zombies may be able to get through.
The zombies you are up against hunt for their prey using sound. Even though they are just walking around without much thought, sound can get them to change direction. Your task is to design an electronic system that will allow you to detect and alert you when a zombie is near the entrance to your base, and then provide a distraction in the way of a sound that will lead the zombies away from that entrance. |
.Your system can be designed in a range of different ways but is likely to require the following components
The complexity of this task can be increased by considering a layered response, for example different switches triggered at different distances with different coloured LEDs to show how far away they are, each with an increasing level of sound
- A power source - typically this will be AA or AAA batteries
- A switch - some type of way that a zombie passing through the door would close the curcuit and activate the distraction and alarm
- A silent alarm - Some way to show that the alarm has been activated without using a audible alarm inside the base, that way zombies will not be further attracted to the door. Something such as alight (LED) may be suitable here.
- An audible alarm - This could take many forms such as a buzzer to create a sound or using a motor to simulate movement
